Ben Affleck has never hidden his appreciation for McDonald’s, but the Oscar-winning actor recently confirmed that his visits to the fast-food chain are far more frequent than many fans expected.
During a celebrity appearance on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, Affleck openly admitted that McDonald’s remains a regular part of his eating habits while also sharing a few humorous moments involving longtime friend Matt Damon and host Jimmy Kimmel.
The episode mixed trivia, comedy, and charity, giving viewers another glimpse into Affleck’s personality beyond the big screen.
Ben Affleck’s McDonald’s Confession
While competing on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, Jimmy Kimmel introduced Ben Affleck with a playful joke aimed at Matt Damon, calling Affleck “that demon Matt Damon’s much better half.” The lighthearted exchange set the tone before the trivia game officially began.
Affleck played the game in support of the Eastern Congo Initiative charity. During the competition, he faced a McDonald’s-themed question that seemed perfectly suited to him.
Kimmel asked:
“Unless you specifically ask for more, which McDonald’s sandwich is served with half a slice of cheese?”
The answer choices included the McRib, McCrispy, Filet-O-Fish, and the Big Mac.
Before making a selection, Affleck surprised the audience with a candid admission.
“I eat a lot of McDonald’s — like a lot. All the time,” he said.
The remark quickly drew attention because Affleck had previously been photographed visiting McDonald’s, including a widely shared visit to a New York City location in 2022.
Although Affleck admitted to being a frequent customer, he still chose to use the audience lifeline before locking in an answer. Most audience members selected the Filet-O-Fish, and Affleck agreed it was the option he had been considering as well.
The audience proved correct. The Filet-O-Fish is the McDonald’s sandwich that comes with half a slice of cheese unless extra cheese is requested. The correct answer earned Affleck $32,000, allowing him to continue in the competition.
Matt Damon Became Part of the Conversation
Later in the game, Affleck encountered another question related to Spain’s annual El Colacho festival, where participants dressed as devils jump over babies as part of a traditional celebration.
The question reminded Affleck of Matt Damon’s earlier appearance on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in July 2025.
Affleck explained that while watching Damon compete, he kept thinking he could answer many of the questions himself. However, Damon received a question about Spanish New Year’s traditions involving grapes, and Affleck admitted he did not know the answer.
Afterward, he said he researched “Spain and festival customs,” and the El Colacho festival appeared during that search.
“This is a tip to Matt Damon. Thank you, Matt,” Affleck joked.
Jimmy Kimmel immediately added another playful remark, saying the compliment would be edited out of the program, continuing the long-running comedy surrounding his fictional rivalry with Damon.
Damon’s Earlier Million-Dollar Win
Matt Damon appeared on the celebrity edition of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in July 2025 alongside “Jeopardy!” legend Ken Jennings. The pair successfully answered every question and won the show’s top $1 million prize for Water.org, Damon’s nonprofit organization focused on expanding access to clean water and sanitation in underserved communities.
Despite years of joking about Damon on television, Kimmel greeted the actor with a reluctant handshake before the game began, keeping one of late-night television’s longest-running comedic rivalries alive.
