Rumors that royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to make the move to the old continent of Africa have been floating around for a while now.
But, even though questions surrounding the matter haven’t all been answered yet, the public has now been officially informed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are indeed heading to the continent albeit only temporarily.
A Fall-Centered Tour
As announced on the official Sussex Instagram account, Prince Harry and Markle are getting ready to go on a royal tour of Africa this coming fall. The family of three has been confirmed to be visiting South Africa while only Prince Harry will continue on to see Botswana, Angola, and Malawi.
As per the announcement, the South African visit is said to be requested by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Officially their first tour as a family, the royal couple is reportedly excited to meeting people on the ground and raising awareness about the various work that local communities have been working on.
As expected, the parents are now busy making necessary arrangements to make their overseas trip with baby Archie a smooth sailing. According to a report from Us Weekly, the couple has hired a female nanny, who will join them to Africa to look after the royal baby while his parents are busy with events.
Maternity Leave
Meanwhile, the new mother is still on maternity leave after giving birth to Archie last May. While the 37-year-old Duchess will be on leave all through the summer, she will still make ‘intermittent appearances’ in various public events. In fact, Markle is supposedly bound to go to the Wimbledon tennis tournaments to show support for athlete Serena Williams. The two women have been friends for years with Williams even getting invited to the former actress’ royal wedding.
For now, though, it seems that Markle’s main priority is Archie. Reportedly wanting to give the baby a normal upbringing, the couple chose not to have live-in staff with them at Frogmore Cottage. Apparently, the family only employs a nanny and a housekeeper during the weekdays and prefers to have the weekends to themselves, as a source told Us Weekly.
Long History
Looking back on the numerous trips the Duke and Duchess have made to Africa both as individuals and as a couple, their choice of going on a royal tour there makes more sense.
It can be remembered that the couple made a visit to Botswana in 2016 during the early days of their relationship. The two reportedly went there just after going on two dates with each other. According to Prince Harry, he was actually the one to persuade the then-actress to join him.
They eventually returned once again to the country in 2017 to celebrate Markle’s 36th birthday.
