On Monday, outside Dunkin’ Donuts, a kindful incident took place when a shuttle driver found a purse filled with credit cards, flight tickets, and cash and then went on to find the owner.
A woman forgot her purse at Massachusetts Dunkin’ Donuts, but to her rescue was a good Samaritan who found her cash-filled purse. On Monday, Mark Trocchio was on his way to pick-me-up, when he spotted the purse. While giving an interview to WBZ, he said that the purse had $8,000 cash, flight tickets, and credit cards.
Before folks around there started pretending to be the purse owner, Trocchio started searching for the real owner. Trocchio who was a drug and alcohol addict in past, said his Boston CBS affiliate, that his decision could be different if it happened in the past.
The Georgian tourist was very lucky as she did not leave the Dunkin’ Donuts when Mark found her purse and identified her with the ID. When she received her purse, she thanked Trocchio and made sure to let people know the good dead he has done.
The tourist told the employees of Trocchio’s shuttle about the whole incident. The former said that he was thankful that he made the day of the tourist.
The Good Samaritan also showed WBZ the place where he found the purse. He stopped to have some coffee in Cambridge location when the incident took place. During the interview, the driver said that he was trying his best to keep a low profile as he had just started the job at the shuttle company, but he said that didn’t work for him at all.
When he found the purse. he thought that the owner can still be in the crowded coffee shop and when he started shouting for the owner, something got his attention. There was a ton of money, Trocchio said, a lot of money. He said that the purse belonged to tourist from Georgia carrying $8,000.
The shuttle driver said that the tourist was crying in the corner when he saw her. The tourist also had two teenage children who were trying their best to console their mother and at that time Trocchio confronted the family.
When he approached the family, he shouted the name of the lady and she turned. The kind-hearted knew that this was the same lady as he had her ID card in his hand. The driver handed over the purse back to the family and refused to take his reward and went away. But the stunned lady had other plans as she noted the name of the shuttle company printed on Trocchio’s shirt and called the company.
While commenting on this story, an employer of Transaction Corporate Shuttles, Cindy Frene, said that this is the reason she loves Boston so much. Mark said if this incident took place a few years, he would never have tried to return it back to the owner. But he is happy that he solved the problem of a family.
The former Marine was an alcohol addict 17 years ago but is now clean. While commenting on his past life, the shuttle driver said that he is moving forward and doing the right things.
In the end, Mark said that he saved a family on vacation and can understand the frustration when a person loses his/her wallet. He related this incident to the one he suffered a few years back. Mark said that his wallet didn’t have $8,000 in it but $8.
People like Mark teaches us that whatever your past is, you can still do good for others. In modern day life, when the life is full of pressure and frustration, where no one cares about the other, people like Mark are hard to find. The kindness and honesty shown by the bus driver prove that humanity still persists in the world.
